Geoscience Data Modernisation Project (GDMP)
For the Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ)

GSQ plays a key role in improving understanding of Queensland’s resource potential and attracting exploration and investment in the resources sector. The GDMP seeks to unlock the value of geoscience data in Queensland. 

Link Digital was brought into this project after the first public release of the GDMP had been deployed with a basic CKAN implementation.  Our expertise was sought because GSQ required a more sophisticated CKAN integration to provide the following:

1. Advanced search functionality
2. A variety of automated data harvesters
3. A customised metadata schema implementation that was standards-compliant & user focussed 
4. Data mapping between dataset types (logical, technical and journey type matching)
5. Custom access rules and access controls

The primary data portal has been expanded with advanced search functionality to meet the specific discovery needs of the GDMP’s target user groups.  Data is ingested through both automated harvesting and a standalone report submissions webApp. An ESRI spatial tool has been integrated with the portal for advanced mapping and visualisation.

The upgraded GDMP data portal is now available at https://geoscience.data.qld.gov.au/
