In just a few short years, the Canadian Open Data Summit has become one of the most important events for anyone involved in data management. This year’s edition will be especially noteworthy as it marks the return to in-person events after years of pandemic-induced virtual gatherings. The summit will take place in Whitehorse, Yukon, on November 7th and 8th.
This year’s event will focus on Unique experiences, insights and successes with Canada’s Open Data Community as a whole. Link Digital’s own Executive Director, Steven De Costa will be giving a talk on CKAN, the world’s leading open source data management system. The Government of Canada’s open data portal uses CKAN as their data management solution, with tens of thousands of datasets making Canada’s governmental data more accessible to everyone.
On the 7th of November, you have the chance to hear what’s brewing at CKAN straight from the horse’s mouth. This will be a good time to learn about the steps taken by CKAN and Link Digital to re-think its roadmap, as well as the obstacles they faced along the way. He’ll also describe the plans for the future of CKAN and how it sees its role within the Open Data Community.
This year’s summit promises to be insightful, with focus areas such as Professional Development in Open Data, Indigenous Data Sovereignty, Open Data on the Front Lines of Climate Change, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development.
So if you’re interested in open data or open government, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
