This month Link Digital kicked off its involvement with the Australian Landing Pad in Berlin. Executive Director, Steven De Costa, has been based in Berlin since April this year to help the company expand its open data services in Europe, while complementing an operations team which has been based in Kharkiv for over five years.

Pitching its open data services at a formal reception from the Australian Ambassador in Germany, Lynette Wood, the company presented its globally competitive expertise, gained by developing open data platforms such as data.gov.au, alongside new projects that are underway with clients such as LEGO Systems and The Pacific Community.

The company goals for the three month landing pad program include a corporate restructure that will simplify partnerships with NGOs, resellers and complementary service providers. Over the next two years the company expects to expand operations with a strong European team, funded directly by new client acquisitions.

Link Digital’s open data services are based on CKAN, Drupal and Amazon Web Services. It is a combination which is in high demand for jurisdictions who wish to publish and promote open Government data. It’s work with corporate clients, such as LEGO Systems, is based on the same open source application stack and is largely driven by the same objective; to make data more discoverable and more accessible so as to increase its value. In such use cases the data remains within the restricted domain of company networks.
