Solid Hackathon 2026 - Link Digital

The future of the web hinges on a fundamental shift: putting users back in control of their own data. As strong advocates for transparent, user-empowered digital ecosystems, Link Digital is thrilled to endorse the upcoming Solid 2026 Hackathon, happening in Canberra from July 14–16, 2026.

Co-hosted by the ANU Software Innovation Institute, the Canberra Innovation Network, and the Open Data Institute, this multi-day event centres on the SOLID protocol, an open W3C standard that allows individuals to securely store their data in decentralised Personal Online Datastores.

Why this event matters

As data sovereignty and digital trust become critical challenges for governments and organisations alike, we need practical, privacy-first solutions. The Solid 2026 Hackathon isn’t just for developers; it is an intentionally multidisciplinary event. Software engineers and data scientists will work side-by-side with designers, legal professionals, and data privacy specialists to prototype the next generation of web applications.

Participants will get hands-on experience with Solid-based systems, receive mentorship from researchers and active practitioners, and help build a web where privacy is engineered by default.

Join the movement

Whether you are a seasoned developer already building on the decentralised web, or a privacy advocate wanting to see what user-controlled software looks like in practice, this event is an incredible environment to learn, collaborate, and ship something meaningful.

At Link Digital, we believe deeply in the power of open standards and community-driven innovation to improve and reshape the data landscape. We highly encourage our network to get involved and lend their expertise to this important initiative.
