As anticipated in late May, Brisbane City Council have launched their new open data platform at data.brisbane.qld.gov.au ahead of GovHack 2015. The new platform is based on CKAN with additional features implemented via Drupal. It has been established for ongoing management by Link Digital on Amazon Web Services.

Brisbane City Council has adopted the metadata schema shared by data.gov.au, data.sa.gov.au and data.nsw.gov.au. This puts it in a great position for metadata sharing between other councils and the QLD state platform if and when such a requirement is established.

Notable datasets include CityCat, CityFerry and CityHopper Timetables, a listing of Ferry Terminals and references for the Brisbane Ferries Monitoring API. You can also grab real time data of traffic volume and occupancy of lanes at Council signalised intersections and approaches.

Link Digital is able to offer Australian Government entities CKAN, Drupal and AWS hosting, support and consulting services under procurement options within the Department of Finance Cloud Service Panel. Along with establishing Brisbane City Council on the platform established for this panel we have recently contracted with the NSW Department of Finance and Services to migrate data.nsw.gov.au over to our managed platform.
